OHL's occupational risk prevention policy has been acknowledged by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) with the "VPP Star Status" prize for its occupational safety excellence evidenced during its construction of Miami's AirportLink (Florida).

The "VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) Star Status" is the highest OSHA award, granted by this agency of the U.S. Department of Employment in charge of ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety. With this prize, OSHA rewards exemplary projects that register accidentality and illness rates below the average in each sector.

Apart from the Miami AirportLink, only two other projects have received this prize in the entire State of Florida.

The AirportLink project will soon connect Metrorail to Miami International Airport. During its construction, an occupational risk prevention plan has been upheld, based on OHL's "zero accident" principle applied to all its projects, in order to ensure that each employee returns home in the same conditions in which he went to work.

Nearly three years' work, more than two million hours without leave-producing accidents, a strict plan for occupational safety education, 550 direct employees and 5,750 indirect employees, and more than 65 outsourced companies, are some of the milestones that explain AirportLink's prestigious award. With an investment of more than 600 Million USD, this project has helped development in the areas affected.
