OHLA Lands Contracts in Florida Valued at $170 Million in Recent Awards from Public and Private Clients
OHLA, via its subsidiary companies, OHLA Building and OHLA USA, received construction contract awards in Florida with a total value of $170 million during the first four months of 2024. The projects comprise vertical building and heavy civil procurements throughout the state that utilize both traditional and alternative delivery methods, including progressive design-build.
OHLA was awarded a construction management contract for a seven-story luxury apartment building at 1155 100th Street in Bay Harbor Islands in Miami-Dade County. The project encompasses the construction of a new residential property featuring 45 apartments all with the latest amenities.
OHLA’s civil subsidiary was awarded several contracts to improve travel reliability on Florida roadways. One of them will improve 12.5 miles of County Road 721 in Glades County. The roadway improvements are to accommodate the expected surge in vehicular traffic.
In Southwest Florida, Lee County awarded the company a road expansion project The work includes the widening of Ortiz Avenue from two lanes to four lanes inclusive of drainage improvements, stormwater management facilities, removal and relocation of existing utilities, and installation of new water main and sewers. The project also encompasses the placement of seven-foot-wide bicycle lanes, a 10-foot-wide walking trail on the west side of Ortiz Avenue, a six-foot-wide sidewalk on the road’s east side, and lighting throughout the corridor.
Additionally, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) awarded OHLA for the reconstruction of a four-mile stretch of State Road 5, also known as Overseas Highway. OHLA is executing other recently awarded projects from FDOT including the $27.9 million resurfacing and guardrail installation along 15 miles of I-75 and a $4.92 million contract that includes resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation of State Road 786 from PGA Boulevard to Fairchild Gardens Avenue in Palm Beach County.
U.S., a strategic market for OHLA
OHLA opened for business in the U.S. market in 2006 and operates in Florida, New York, California, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Illinois. The company is involved in major contracts such as the Purple Line Light Rail in Maryland, the I-5 North County Enhancements project in California, as well as the South Corridor Bus Rapid Transit project in Florida. Recently, the MTA awarded the company a contract to improve 13 New York City subway stations, the second largest contract in the Group’s portfolio after the Purple Line Light Rail.
