OHLA USA Announces New Leadership Appointments To Advance Strategic Growth
Sharpening its focus on the future, OHLA USA, Inc. appoints Brad Nystrom, formerly of Skanska USA, to Chief Operating Officer; Arnav Amin, EVP of OHLA USA to Chief Pursuit Officer; and Alex Medyn, VP of OHLA USA to Executive Vice President of the company’s West Region.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - COLLEGE POINT, N.Y., March 1, 2023 – OHLA USA, a premier U.S. construction firm, today announced the appointment of Brad Nystrom as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Nystrom will provide leadership for the company’s U.S. construction operations. He will also assist OHLA USA CEO, Daniel Ruiz, with developing and expanding initiatives to drive corporate growth. Mr. Nystrom fills the position previously held by Mr. Ruiz, who was appointed CEO following the retirement of Ashok Patel, P.E. last year.
Mr. Nystrom brings 25 years of construction experience to his new role. He previously served as Skanska USA’s Vice President of Operations responsible for oversight of civil construction projects in the western United States. Prior to that appointment, Mr. Nystrom held positions in both human resources and construction operations with Skanska, beginning his tenure as a project engineer and rapidly advancing to more challenging positions as a project manager, project executive, and project director. During his time as Vice President of Human Resources, he spearheaded significant initiatives and helped launch Skanska USA’s Civil operations’ National Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee. Mr. Nystrom serves on the National Board of the ACE Mentor Program of America.
In addition, the company announced that Executive Vice President, Arnav Amin, has been appointed Chief Pursuit Officer, a newly created position. In this role, Mr. Amin will develop strategies designed to streamline the bidding process internally to maximize efficiency. He will also explore new ways to capture synergies among the company’s business areas to advance growth in new and existing markets.
Mr. Amin, who has over 30 years of construction industry experience, will continue to serve as Executive Vice President responsible for operations in the Central Region, which has grown and expanded significantly under his leadership. Mr. Amin joined OHLA USA in 2014, after serving as Division Manager at Flatiron Construction and Program Manager at Walsh Construction where he was responsible for the successful completion of high-profile infrastructure projects across the U.S. Mr. Amin serves on the board of the non-profit organization Facing Forward to End Homelessness in Chicago, Illinois.
The company also announced the appointment of Vice President, Alex Medyn to Executive Vice President of OHLA USA’s West Region, based in Irvine, California. Mr. Medyn will manage operations, estimating functions, and new business pursuits, and will also assume P&L responsibility for the region, which has a strong foothold in diverse projects within the transportation and water infrastructure markets.
Mr. Medyn has 28 years of construction experience. He previously served as OHLA USA’s Vice President & Project Director for the $1.4 billion I-405 Improvement Project in California for Orange County Transportation Authority.
Prior to joining OHLA USA in 2017, Mr. Medyn served as Project Executive for Skanska USA Civil West where he oversaw the delivery of large-scale infrastructure contracts. He has a long, proven history of constructing successful projects for multiple transportation agencies including Caltrans, the City of Los Angeles, and the County of San Bernadino.
