Jackson Health Systems North Medical Center
OHLA provided preconstruction and construction management services for the $64 million Jackson Health Systems North Medical Center. The facility was upgraded as part of the $830 million bond initiative put forth by Miami-Dade County voters. The scope of work was developed into four packages that included interior modernization to provide a comfortable environment to patients as well as upgrading key MEP infrastructure. The exterior facade was enhanced with a new entrance to the facility, including creative artwork from Miami-Dade County’s Art in Public Places division.
The 382-bed North Miami Beach hospital received a complete makeover, from a new emergency room to operating room robotics. The project expanded the hospital’s ER, doubling its size, and added a pediatric ER. Labor and delivery suites were refurbished. Surgical suites and an outpatient rehabilitation center also feature new equipment. The work was performed in an active facility during the difficult COVID 19 pandemic. It required continuous coordination with the staff and the facilities team to minimize interruption to the daily operations.
