Central Boulevard Widening, Alignment & Service Loop Reconstruction
Central Boulevard is the gateway to Miami International Airport. It is the main roadway carrying commercial and commuter traffic in and out of the airport. Our subsidiary, Community Asphalt, worked closely with Miami-Dade Expressway Authority and Miami Dade Aviation Department to execute this $50 million contract that called for the reconstruction of Central Boulevard and its service roads while maintaining the high volume of passenger and commercial flow.
This project entailed the construction of six new bridges, improvements to three existing bridges, road construction, mechanically stabilized earth walls, drainage systems, and landscaping. Installation of signaling and lighting systems and an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) - including closed-circuit television and dynamic message signing - were also part of the scope of work. Community Asphalt used several carefully planned traffic phases to complete construction in this high-profile area.
