Elgin O’Hare Western Access Tollway Roadway and Bridge Construction, Route 83 to York Road
Our subsidiary, Judlau Contracting, performed the required work on this $40 million contract to improve safety and travel reliability on a mile of the Elgin O’Hare Western Access route to O’Hare International Airport, also known as I-390 or the Illinois Tollway mainline. The project consisted of roadway and bridge construction from Route 83 to York Road in DuPage County, IL.
The scope of work included the construction of mainline roadway and several ramps and bridges, in addition to specially designed mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls. Judlau carefully implemented a safety plan for traffic maintenance and protection for the traveling public, including rail -- since several of the bridges were erected over the Chicago Terminal Railroad.
Judlau’s activities on this project included pouring concrete, performing earthwork, drainage improvements, landscaping, installing roadway lighting, a conduit for fiber optic cable and electric cable, and associated signage and pavement markings.
