I-57 Roadway and Bridge Widening from Kedzie Avenue to CSX Railroad
Continuing our service to the client, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Judlau Contracting performed this critical $66 million contract to improve traffic flow and upgrade 1.5 miles of I-57 from Kedzie Avenue to CSX Railroad. Included in the construction effort were bridge demolition and new construction over 147th Street, bridge widening at 149th Street and Dixie Highway, and widening and resurfacing of I-57. Ramp pavement construction was also part of the scope of work, as was the construction of the I-294 ramp, and Ramp L. Judlau had to create designs for both the high-performance concrete for the superstructure and retaining walls and also for the noise abatement barriers.
Supporting elements of this project consisted of excavating and grading, constructing double-face and single-face barriers and storm drainage systems, paving and marking of all new structures, and installing and upgrading traffic surveillance equipment, guardrail, and landscaping and maintenance of traffic.
