I-57 Roadway and Bridge Widening from Kedzie Avenue to CSX Railroad

Continuing our service to the client, Illinois State Toll Highway Authority, Judlau Contracting performed this critical $66 million contract to improve traffic flow and upgrade 1.5 miles of I-57 from Kedzie Avenue to CSX Railroad.  Included in the construction effort were bridge demolition and new construction over 147^th Street, bridge widening at 149^th Street and Dixie Highway, and widening and resurfacing of I-57.  Ramp pavement construction was also part of the scope of work, as was the construction of the I-294 ramp, and Ramp L. Judlau had to create designs for both the high-performance concrete for the superstructure and retaining walls and also for the noise abatement barriers.   

Supporting elements of this project consisted of excavating and grading, constructing double-face and single-face barriers and storm drainage systems, paving and marking of all new structures, and installing and upgrading traffic surveillance equipment, guardrail, and landscaping and maintenance of traffic.
