Puente Avenue Grade Separation
To improve safety conditions along busy Puente Avenue, OHLA USA, Inc. was contracted to build new roadways and bridges that would separate vehicular traffic from train operations at railroad crossings.
Work activities on this $39 million contract included constructing a four-lane underpass on Puente Avenue, installing a new two-track railroad bridge that carries Union Pacific Railroad freight trains over Puente Avenue, and a six-lane 150-foot-long cast-in-place elevated box girder structure on Valley Boulevard. The railroad bridge features a cast-in-place concrete substructure and a steel girder superstructure with a waterproofed steel deck.
