South Miami Hospital Clinical Expansion
OHLA Building, Inc., an OHLA USA subsidiary, oversaw the work necessary to carry out the expansion and renovation and the two-story addition to South Miami Hospital. New spaces were built for an emergency department, a surgical suite, and an expansion to the radiation and oncology areas. The project provided the hospital with a complete renovation to under-utilized areas and supported the new emergency and surgery departments. The $47 million project totaled 78,914 square feet of new construction for the addition and 40,571 square feet of interior renovation construction. The effort also encompassed a new walk-in and ambulance entrance, waiting room and registration spaces, a six-station triage section, a six-station fast-track treatment space, a 16-station acute care treatment area, a trauma room, two isolation rooms, and a 12-bed clinical unit and support spaces.
This 30-month project achieved LEED Gold Certification and was awarded the Sunshine Safety Recognition Award.
