Water Main Relocation/ Rehabilitation
Our subsidiary, Judlau Contracting, was responsible for relocating and rehabilitating water mains along busy Route 90/94 between Harrison and Polk Streets in Chicago. The most challenging aspect of this project was the construction and installation of a large caisson-supported retaining wall, which was necessary to complete the relocation of one 54-inch water main. The project team performed the rehabilitation of several 54-inch and 48-inch water mains, along with the relocation of a 60-inch combined sewer.
To execute this $22 million contract, Judlau performed asphalt removal, excavation and embankment modifications, and removal of casing pipe, in addition to roadway paving and associated marking and signage. The project team also installed roadway lighting, ITS infrastructure, and managed traffic maintenance and protection activities.
